Thanks BobOB, JX is on my short list, Audi Q7and X5. JX has more "stuff" for much less, but want to make sure no big problems are going on with it.
Most of the issues have been identified on this forum. There were several recalls early on that have been taken care of by the dealerships. The Audi Q7 was on my list but after weighing all the technology on the JX compared to the Q7, and for the price, the JX beat Audi hands-down. My wife and I have owned 7 Nissan products and that also weighed on our decision. After owning it since June, I still love the comfort and technology.
Things to watch for: If you are traveling with passengers in the back seats, make sure there is enough head and leg room. The seats are comfortable but do sit low. The front seats in the lowered position limits the foot room in the second room. When we have passengers with big feet or long legs, we keep our seats in the raised position. Some people have trouble getting used to the CVT transmission since it is smooth, but if you put the transmission in Sport mode, it replicates a shifting transmission. You can also manually shift the JX, so its worth playing with the settings on a test drive. Our car is loaded and I wouldn't have it any other way. It turns on a dime for a large vehicle and it is easy to park. There are blind spots, but in our case we keep the third row seats down 90% of the time which helps. The blind spot warning and intervention systems make a big difference and to me, eliminate any blind spot issues. The DCA braking system takes a bit of getting used to, but in heavy freeway traffic, it takes some of the pain out constant braking. The sound system is excellent, and most of all, the butt warmers and coolers along with the heated steering wheel are great when the car is cold. The back up collision system is excellent and has already saved my bacon a couple times. One last feature to consider is the Infiniti Connection. It works great and if you travel a lot and need to set your destination, its nice to have someone do it for you and send it to the car.
I recommend really looking at the technology on all the competitor vehicles and price them out. If its an issue, the JX becomes the QX60 in 2014 but there may not be many changes. Some are speculating there may be an option for the transmission being used on the Pathfinder, which provides up to 5,000 lbs. towing capacity. Right now there seems to be more JX's available at the dealerships, so you might get a better price than some of us that purchased early.
Good luck with your shopping. Do search this forum for plenty of discussion.
