I read about this news on a Chinese site. It's claiming that Infiniti is planning to release a hybrid version of the JX using the same engine as the Altima, with hybrid technology borrowed from the hybrid M. It is claiming that this hybrid model will arrive in the US market in Q1 of 2013. What do you guys think? hoax or true? Would it affect potential buyers to wait? I think a hybrid version will be great.

Hoax, especially if the news came from china. Plus they just cut the g25. Sales are slow when you go with a smaller engine and critics already complain about the jx current power offering. Tahoe/escalade hybrid sales did poorly for large vehicles too!

I do think they might have a future jx hybrid like a Highlander.

THey should put the same hybrid motor that is in the M, that thing flies.. I have one and would love to see that same motor in the JX.. The M is 360HP, even if they tuned it down to 320 or so, that would be a huge improvement, especially with the extra torque with the electric..

I don't think this is a hoax. Infiniti did have a JX 25h as a tread mark. So they have been planing for this. But l don't think it will be that fast, though. Maybe a few more years down the road when all the bugs with the current version are worked out.

I do hope it's a hoax. I already feel the 3.5L mated to a CVT to be a compromise to get higher MPGs. Making a 2.5L with an electric motor and expect overall driving satisfaction remains to be seen. Frankly I think it would be unclear given the current JX35 drivetrain & engine. Upfront, when we test drove the JX35 & chose it, we knew what we were getting. I just am skeptical about a 25h. The curb weight & expected payload would just be too much for a 25h.

Now, now... it will be different if rumors circulate of a 37h AWD with rear wheel biased ATTESA. If that's a hoax, count me in the joke.

I can't see them putting the 2.5L engine in this vehicle with the hybrid motor. We have a 2012 Rogue with the 2.5L engine, and its fine for the smaller vehicle, but I think it would make the JX pretty sluggish. It will be interesting to see if Infiniti does make a hybrid JX.

I guarantee that the JX will be offered with a hybrid setup within the next year. There are many sources on the web citing Infiniti execs about the future of hybrids in Infiniti vehicles, and one of the main reasons they went with the CVT in the JX was not only fuel economy, but a future hybrid. Now, if they went with the M hybrid setup, we're talkin' about a different animal. However, the M's hybrid setup is only set for rear wheel drive. Additionally, if they do go with the Altima hybrid, I agree that it will be drastically underpowered and a worse driving experience than a Prius.... I can't stand getting stuck behind a Prius when getting on the Interstate!

God i hope this is BS! The only thing this suv is lacking is performance! Going to a smaller motor is the last thing this platform needs!! I've got no problems going the hybrid route, but please, PLEASE don't compromise performance!
