The Pentagon Federal Credit Union: www.Penfed.org has auto loan rates at 1.99% up to 60 months. You do not have to be a government employee or active/retired military to join. If you join the "Voices for America's Troops" for a one-time fee of $15, you can become a member. (just choose join penfed at the top of the page and it will guide you through the process) We used them for our JX, and refi'd my wifes minivan at the 1.99% rate. The best the dealer could do was 2.79% (he was pissed we had such a good rate).

PenFed has a great reputation. I plan on using them for an auto loan when we decide to buy.

I've been thinking of PenFed as well. My car arrives next month. Should I become a member now and get a pre-approval for the loan? Or should we wait till we initially get the financing through Infiniti Finance and then refi via PenFed? Any insights here will help. Thanks in advance.

Jugdish, How long will Penfed take to send a check in the mail?

I received my check the next day with expedited delivery (came via UPS next day air). As far as waiting.... It's up to you when to finance. The rate at penfed was 2.49 3 months ago and fell last month to 1.99. Who knows what rates will do (although, I don't think they will fluctuate much). Once you apply for the loan, the rate is good for 90 days.

The dealer just told me that the car has reached. If the loan package will come in a day or two, I'll probably wait for it.

I too applied and was instantly approved. My car doesn't arrive till next month. Like you said Jugdish, the 1.99 APR is good for 90 days. They will mail me a check before I am ready to go to the dealer to pick up the car. Thanks for all your help.

If you buy the car thourgh PenFed ZAG dealers your APR will drop to 1.49%. The ZAG is the same for AMEX, TrueCar. Go to Auto Loans, scroll all the way down and there you should see the banner/picture of "Get 1.49& APR with PenFed Car Buying Service". If you already applied for the loan, you can still go through PenFed and once you pick a dealer, you can call PenFed, they will lower your APR.

I could see this pissing off a ton of banks but a low rate of 1.9% is pretty sweet
