The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating 2013 Infiniti JX35 models after two cases were reported of the intelligent braking system stopping the vehicle when there was no collision imminent.

As part of the driver assistance package on the Infiniti JX35, intelligent brake assist is a safety system which will bring the vehicle to a complete stop if an imminent collision is detected.

The issue is that in two documented cases, the intelligent braking system deployed, and brought the vehicle to a stop when there was nothing in front or behind the JX. Both instances took place while the vehicle was on a bridge, and the owners were told by dealership employee’s that the metal content in the bridge caused the fault.

NHTSA is now investigating the problem, and a recall will be issued if the fault is found to be widespread throughout all of Infiniti’s JX crossovers.

For anyone who has not seen the "ICC Speed Increases..." discussion thread, I would like to invite you to check it out.
Why am I making this request associated with an instance of unexpected braking? Because these two circumstances have a common element: they are both occurring when there is no vehicle in front of the JX.
Given these two handling anomalies and the potential danger they represent, all JX drivers should be extra cautious when driving with no vehicle in front of you until Infiniti can correct these issues.
Safe motoring!
