This special edition Infiniti FX is a must have for any F1 fan! Sebastian probably feels great that Infiniti decided to build a special edition SUV named after him.
Trying to figure out the cars that we are most looking forward to seeing at the Frankfurt Motor Show is like choosing stacks of gold in a room full of, well, gold. It’s hard, to say the least.
But off the top of our heads, there are a few concepts that we’re looking forward to seeing for the first time; one of them being the Infiniti Sebastian Vettel Edition.
Quite frankly, we know very little about the car other than the fact that Infiniti has announced that it will be a concept FX, courtesy of the first official photo of the car that was released over the weekend. Other than that, details are still being kept under wraps until it’s expected debut in Frankfurt in a couple of weeks.
Recently, though, F1 world champion and vehicle namesake, Sebastian Vettel, met with Infiniti’s design head, Shiro Nakamura, to talk about the in’s and out’s of the car and how some of Formula One’s technology can be translated into the machine.
A video of the meeting was recently posted with the two talking shop about the mystery car while pointing various elements of Vettel’s F1 car - the steering wheel, the pedal assembly, and the wheel locking nuts - sitting on the table. There also appears to be some interior photos of the car on the table with the words "Carbon-Titanian Light-Grey Piping", suggesting that it could be the car’s upholstery stitching.
UPDATE 09/04/11: Infiniti has released more photos of the Sebastian Vettel-badged Infiniti FX. On top of that, we learned that, as per Vettel’s wishes, the special edition crossover has been tuned to hit a staggering top speed of 186 mph, making it arguably one of the fastest crossovers in the world today. Then again, we shouldn’t be surprised considering the reigning Formula One champion’s background. Other features of the car include the extensive participation of Red Bull Racing, including tweaks done on the engine, suspension and body.
